Sture Bergwall confessed to being a serial killer who murdered more than 30 people in the 1970s and ’80s. In some cases, he said he sexually assaulted his victims first. Beginning in 1994, he was convicted of eight murders and was sentenced to an indefinite term at the Säter hospital for the criminally insane, outside Stockholm.

Wednesday, the last of those convictions was overturned.
