Lori Stanislaus on being furloughed

2 October 2013Radio

CBC Radio’s As It Happens:

It’s a word that hundreds of thousands of U.S. government workers are hearing this week: “furloughed”.

It means, simply: no work, and no pay.

And on Day Two of the shutdown, there’s still no end in sight.

Lori Stanislaus is a human resources officer for the U.S. federal government.

We reached her in West Hempstead, New York.

Lawmakers in the United States should listen to this woman. Maybe then they would realize the consequences of their petty, polarized politics. The interview starts at the 1:45 mark and runs for about seven minutes.
